LRB Lead Rubber Bearing
LRB (Lead Rubber Bearing) is an elastomeric bearing that absorbs and disperses horizontal energy generated during earthquakes. This is achieved by inserting a lead plug into the centre of the elastomeric bearing. During an earthquake, the LRB can extend the natural period of a bridge through elastic and plastic deformation, reducing the horizontal forces caused by the earthquake's weight and making substructure design cost-effective. LRBs can withstand short-term rapid loads such as wind power, breaking loads and earthquake loads due to the elastomeric stiffness of the lead, providing stability against all loads over time. LRB can easily adjust to slow displacements, such as temperature changes, which cause low endurance. After an earthquake, it can return to its original position, making it easy to maintain and repair at low cost. It has an attractive exterior after installation.
